Permanent makeup in Kovin
You wake up, and your brows are already there.
What is permanent makeup
Permanent makeup means placing pigment into the upper layer of the skin with a fine needle and a special device. The pigment stays in the skin for a long time but fades gradually, so the result is refreshed over time. That is why it is called permanent, even though it is not forever.
Kristina does three types: powder brows, which give the brows a soft, powdery look as if they were nicely filled in with shadow; lip micropigmentation, which brings back colour and a clearer contour; and eyeliner, a fine line along the lashes that makes your eyes look more awake.
Shape and colour are not chosen from a catalogue. Brows are drawn to suit your face, and the shade is matched to your skin tone and hair colour, so the result looks like you on a good day, not like a tattoo. Kristina has been doing permanent makeup for eight years.
Who it is for
You notice you spend time every morning trying to draw both brows the same.
Your brows are sparse or light, so your face looks unfinished without makeup.
Over time your lips have lost their colour and clear contour.
You like eyeliner, but it smudges by the end of the day.
You want to look polished at the pool, at the gym and as soon as you wake up.
What the appointment looks like
Consultation
Kristina chooses the shape and shade with you. The brows are first drawn in pencil, and nothing is done until you agree that the shape suits you.
Preparation
The skin is cleansed and an anaesthetic cream is applied and left until it takes effect.
Treatment
The pigment is placed layer by layer, with frequent pauses to check the look in the mirror together. For brows the appointment takes about two hours.
Afterwards
For the first few days the colour is darker and stronger than it will be. You get aftercare instructions, and the touch up session is booked for four to six weeks later.
When you see results and how long they last
The skin heals in about seven to ten days, and the true colour shows only after four weeks, once the pigment has settled. At the touch up session, whatever the skin released while healing is filled in.
Permanent makeup most often lasts one to three years, depending on your skin type, sun exposure and aftercare. When it starts to fade, a refresh is enough, without repeating the whole procedure.
Results depend on the condition of your skin.
Who performs this treatment
Questions we often get
Will my brows look natural?
The powder brows technique gives a soft, powdery look, similar to brows filled in with shadow. The shape is drawn to suit your face and you approve it before the treatment begins.
How long does healing take?
About seven to ten days. During that time a thin crust forms and falls off on its own; it should not be picked. For the first week, avoid the sauna, the pool and strong sun.
Why is a touch up needed?
While healing, the skin releases some of the pigment, and not evenly everywhere. At the touch up session the colour is evened out and filled in, and only then is the result complete.
Can I have permanent makeup if I had my brows done somewhere else before?
Most often yes, but it depends on how much the old pigment has faded and what colour it is. Kristina assesses this at the consultation and tells you honestly what is possible.
Who should not have permanent makeup?
It is not done during pregnancy or breastfeeding, when the skin in the area is inflamed or damaged, or with some health conditions. That is why we talk about your health and medicines before the appointment.
