Excessive sweating treatment in Kovin
For days without worrying about marks on your clothes.
What is the excessive sweating treatment
Excessive sweating, medically called hyperhidrosis, means that the sweat glands work far more than the body needs for cooling. It most often affects the underarms, palms and soles, and it does not depend only on heat or effort.
The treatment uses botulinum toxin, the same medicine used in aesthetic medicine for expression lines, but here for a different purpose. It is given in very small doses into the skin of the treated area and temporarily blocks the signal that switches on the sweat glands. Your body still cools normally through the rest of your skin.
The result is dry skin in the area that bothered you: a shirt without dark marks, a handshake without a second thought, shoes you can take off anywhere. Dr Ivan performs the treatment.
Who it is for
You notice that you choose clothes by how much sweat marks show.
Before an important meeting or a night out, you think more about your underarms than about the event itself.
Your palms are damp even when you are not stressed.
Antiperspirants help for only a few hours, if that.
You want a solution that lasts for months, not until the end of the day.
What the appointment looks like
Consultation
You talk about where and when the sweating happens, and we check whether the treatment is the right choice for you. If needed, the area is marked precisely with a test.
Preparation
The skin is cleansed and disinfected. For the palms and soles, where the skin is more sensitive, cooling or an anaesthetic cream is used.
Treatment
The medicine is given with a fine needle through many shallow injections spread across the area. For the underarms the treatment takes about twenty minutes.
Afterwards
You go straight back to your day. On the first day you skip the sauna and hard exercise, and you can use deodorant on your underarms from the next day.
When you see results and how long they last
Sweating starts to decrease after a few days, and the full effect shows about two weeks after the treatment.
Under the arms the effect most often lasts six to nine months, and on the palms and soles somewhat less. Many women book the treatment before spring, so that summer goes by without worry.
Results depend on the condition of your skin.

Questions we often get
Will my body then sweat more somewhere else?
Only a small area of skin is treated, so your body still regulates its temperature without any problem. Most women do not notice more sweating in other places.
Is treating the palms more uncomfortable than the underarms?
The skin of the palms is more sensitive, so the treatment is less comfortable. That is why cooling or an anaesthetic cream is used there, and Dr Ivan works more slowly, with short pauses.
Does it affect hand strength?
After treating the palms, some women feel a slight weakness in fine finger movements for the first few days, which passes on its own. This is discussed at the consultation.
How often can I repeat the treatment?
The treatment is repeated when the effect starts to fade, most often once or twice a year. It should not be repeated at shorter intervals than recommended.
Who should not have this treatment?
It is not done during pregnancy or breastfeeding, with some neuromuscular conditions, or when the skin in the area is inflamed. If the sweating started suddenly, we first check whether there is another cause.
When is the right time for the treatment?
Most women come in spring, two to three weeks before the warm days, because the full effect arrives in about two weeks. The treatment can be done at any time of year.
