Profhilo or skin booster, what is the difference?

Profhilo and skin boosters both hydrate the skin from within, and neither changes your features. The difference is that Profhilo, because of its high concentration of hyaluronic acid, also works on the firmness of the skin and is given at fewer points, while skin boosters are chosen for what your skin needs most and are usually done as a course.

What they have in common

Both Profhilo and skin boosters are products with hyaluronic acid, a substance the skin makes on its own and which binds water. Neither is meant to add volume in a particular spot, the way a filler does. So after the treatment no one sees a new face, just skin that looks more rested: smoother, more hydrated and with more glow.

Both are given with a fine needle in a short appointment, and after either one you can go back to your day. For the first few hours small bumps may show at the injection points, and they settle quickly.

How they differ

Profhilo contains a very high concentration of pure hyaluronic acid. It is injected at only a few points on each side of the face and then spreads under the skin on its own. Besides hydrating, it encourages the skin to rebuild its own firmness, so it is often chosen when a woman notices her skin has become softer around the cheeks and jaw. The usual plan is two treatments about a month apart.

Skin boosters are a wider group of products. At Nami Klinik these are Jalupro, Jalupro Super Hydra, Ejal40, Skinvive by Juvéderm and RRS HA Long Lasting. Some of them contain amino acids alongside hyaluronic acid, which the skin uses to renew itself. They are placed at many tiny points or along lines and are most often done as a course of two to three treatments.

Put simply: if your skin needs above all water and glow, a skin booster is often enough. If you also notice your skin losing firmness, Profhilo gives more.

When they are combined

A combination makes sense for skin that needs both. For example, Profhilo on the cheeks for firmness and a skin booster on the neck and décolletage, where the skin is thinner and dries out faster. The time between treatments and their order are set at the consultation.

How to know which is for you

You do not need to know in advance. At the consultation Dr Rada looks at your skin, asks what you notice in the mirror and how your skin behaves during the day, and then suggests a treatment. Sometimes it is Profhilo, sometimes a skin booster, and sometimes something else entirely, for example polynucleotides around the eyes.

The only thing that matters is knowing that none of these treatments changes your face. What changes is the quality of your skin, and the change is noticed by you, and by the people who tell you that you look rested.

Results depend on the condition of your skin.

Book a consultation and find out whether Profhilo or a skin booster suits your skin better.
