Do fillers change my face?

A well done filler does not change your face; it restores fullness and support where your face has lost them over the years. The result is a face that looks fresher and more rested, and still entirely yours.

Where the fear of fillers comes from

Most women who are afraid of fillers are not afraid of the treatment itself, but of the look they have seen on others: overdone lips, cheekbones that change the face, cheeks that look puffed up. That look does not come from hyaluronic acid, but from too much product or a badly chosen place. The same gel in a small amount, in the right place, gives a completely different impression.

What a filler actually does

Hyaluronic acid is a substance your skin makes on its own. In a filler it takes the form of a soft gel, with different densities for different parts of the face. A firmer gel gives support on the cheekbones and chin, and a softer one is used for the lips, where it needs to stay naturally mobile.

At Nami Klinik, Dr Ivan works with HarmonyCa and MINT Fill. MINT Fill is a classic hyaluronic filler, and HarmonyCa is a hybrid product that contains calcium hydroxylapatite alongside hyaluronic acid, which encourages collagen production. The choice depends on the area and on how much support your skin needs.

For many women, it is not so much the skin that changes over the years as the support beneath it. The cheekbone drops slightly, and the whole middle of the face looks more tired. A small amount of filler in the right place restores that support, and the face looks more rested, even though not a single feature has changed.

How we keep the change from showing

Before the treatment, your face is looked at as a whole, at rest and while you talk, because a lot only shows in movement. The gel is placed slowly and in small amounts, while symmetry is checked all the time. When needed, the work is done in two smaller steps instead of one big one: first the base, and two weeks later, once the gel has settled, a small top up if needed.

For the first few days there may be mild swelling, especially on the lips. That is why the real result shows only after about two weeks.

And if I do not like the result?

A hyaluronic filler can be dissolved with the enzyme hyaluronidase if the result does not suit you or a correction is needed. That is one of the reasons these products are chosen for the face. With HarmonyCa, which contains calcium hydroxylapatite alongside hyaluronic acid, the enzyme dissolves only the hyaluronic part, while the calcium hydroxylapatite breaks down on its own, more slowly. Filler breaks down gradually, so over time your face returns to how it was, without sudden changes.

What to say at the consultation

Say what you notice, and also what you do not want. If it matters to you that your lips stay almost the same, just a little more hydrated and with a clearer contour, that is a completely legitimate goal. When he knows where your limit is, it is easier for Dr Ivan to make a plan.

Results depend on the condition of your skin.
